Back home from Holiday

I planted 300 heads of Tennis Ball Lettuce before I went on holiday. Here is a little background information on it. The lettuce variety Tennis-ball was a very popular one in the vegetable garden at Monticello. Jefferson noted that "it does not require so much care and attention" as other types. Tennis-ball Lettuce was grown in America in the late eighteenth century, and it eventually became the parent of our Boston types still popular today. Plant the seed in rich, well-drained soil early in the spring for an early summer crop, or else, plant in late summer for a fall harvest.
